Welcome to my new miniatures blog.
I've been blogging in various places since about 2003 but I've been playing with miniatures for a lot longer (nearly sixty years! isn't that a scary thought) ever since my father built a dollhouse for me.
I have a fascination with tiny environments, both natural and constructed, searching them out, creating, photographing or just viewing but most of all imagining.
I used to make pottery and started taking my miniatures seriously when a shop asked me to make some miniature pots to sell.
I sold my work at doll and miniature shows and then branched out into selling furniture and accessories - some I made and some were imported. I continued at the shows for quite a few years, adding my (large) cloth dolls and patterns while my husband made room boxes for sale.
Somewhere during this time, I found that a couple of the ladies I worked with were also interested in dollhouses and keen to start a group, so the Leprechauns Miniatures Group was born (so called because we met at the house of a lovely Irish lady whose workshop clock ran backwards and we never knew when to go home)
The Leprechauns continued for many years, but eventually some members lost interest and others moved away so now we are five (with several supportive spouses).
I no longer attend the fairs as a trader, instead, I take part in our annual group displays.
My love of fantasy means that most of my work begins with a good tale of witches, wizards, and general wyrdness.
I count myself very lucky that the others in our group are also lovers of the wyrd and way out wonderful.
I've been posting about my miniatures to my "Gramarye" blog, but think I will probably move most of the posts to here, I also have a lot of very old photos I'd like to document, so odd things will pop up in no particular chronological order.
